Gear Up For Chargers Football

Charge Around The Corner

Sports:
Greetings dear readers! With the NFL summer camps underway, and pre-season right around the corner, it is time that I start updating you all regularly, with what I hear from the Southwestern corner of the United States. I will list San Diego’s pre-season schedule in this posting. Again, I am doing this for you… I don’t give two shits about pre-season football, but it does give the coaches a chance to check out their rookies. Speaking of rookies, the Chargers have been signing mult-year contracts with several of their recent 2009 draftees. Such as:
Tyronne Green’s (#69) terms of a 4-year contract were agreed to. Green is a tough offensive guard from Auburn, but he will also take time to develop.
Gartrell Johnson’s (#33) undiclosed terms were agreed to. Johnson is a drafted running back from Colorado State and he will be competing against Michael Bennett for the 3rd running back spot, and possibly a future replacement for LT.
Vaughn Martin’s (#92) terms of a 4-year contract were agreed to. The financial terms were not disclosed. The Chargers drafted this defensive tackle from Western Ontario. He is 6′ 4″ and weighs 320 pounds. Because he did not start playing football until the 10th grade, Martin is a work in progress, but he has excellent potential.
Finally, the Chargers have agreed, in principle, to the undisclosed terms of Louis Vasquez (#65), the drafted Texas Tech offensive guard. Vasquez is fighting for a starting position in the Chargers’ lineup, and could very well earn it. He is expected to compliment the Bolt’s defense nicely.
Moving on to the pre-season schedule for San Diego. Like I mentioned before, I have never paid any attention to pre-season, and I have never cared. Pre-season gives football junkies something, after 6 long months of no football. I have always considered pre-season to be like comparing masturbation to sex, with no orgasm! Why no orgasm? Because the games don’t count! I have never written a blog before this year, so this is for you dear readers. All of the Chargers games will be played on Saturdays, and the game times I have listed are Pacific Standard Time.  The Chargers will be:

Hosting the Seahawks on Aug 15 @ 7 PM
Visiting the Cardinals on Aug 22 @ 7 PM
Visiting the Falcons on Aug 29 @ 5 PM
Hosting the 49ers on Sept 4 @ 7 PM
Who will wins these games? Who cares! Since the first Monday night of the regular season has two games, the Chargers visiting the Raiders will air later than usual @ 7:15 PM PST, after the Buffalo/New England game on September 14th. That will be San Diego’s first win of the season!
Question: What do you say to an Oakland Raider football player when he wears a suit?
Answer: “Will the defendant please rise.”
